Thelma (Locklear) Harris

Mrs. Thelma Locklear Harris, 84, of Maxton, NC, was born March 7, 1937 to the late Mr. Asa and Susie Locklear and ended her life’s journey August 21, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was taught in her yourger years the lessons of hard work, dedication and love for her family, service to her fellow man and most of all, submission to her Lord and Savior.  Throughout her life she was faced with many obstacles that she was able to overcome and prevail.  She worked hard all her life along side of her husband to provide for her family and to help those in need. She was dedicated to the many “olden days’ traditions that this world now lacks so much.  She was strong, loving, persistant and a true fighter until the very end.  She loved gospel music and to watch Rev. Jimmy Swaggart all day long.  Her faith and loyal service to Jesus Christ has finally given her her reward, a new body and a brand new home.

Mrs. Thelma is preceded in death by her husband, Lowell Harris and four brothers, Joseph, Charles, Howard and Bruce.

She leaves behond her loving family, two daughters, Linda Bullard (Harvey) and Denise Locklear (Joe L); one son, Mitchell Harris (Claire); six grandchildren, Kendrick Lee, Todd Elliot, John Quinlin, Elizabeth “Liz” Carrington, Jordan Tyler and Joel Patrick; four great grandchildren, Kiethen Lecota, Kendra Lynn, Zaiden Lowell and Ivey Rose; one sister, Helen Locklear; one brother, Bobby Locklear; two brother-in-laws who helped her so much, Kenneth and Frank; one close friend, Flossie Eddings and a host of other relatives and friends.

Burial will be wednesday at 11 am. at Harris Family Cemetery.
