Rufus Clark

Rufus Clark 78, entered his heavenly home on Jan 4, 2026 at First Health Regional Hospital. He was a devoted husband of Mrs Rugene Clark of 54 years.

Born in Lumberton NC, he was the son of Jessie and Elizabeth Clark. Employed with Asplundh Tree Service for 27 years and after retiring he continued to work to provide for his family. A member of Maxton First Assembly Church of God. Rufus loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and a host of family & friends. Most days you could find him at Maxton Hardees or Blues Cafe for breakfast. He enjoyed taking quick trips to Prospect dumpsters and lastly, making his rounds to his two daughter's residence ensuring they were okay each evening.

He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Shawn Oxendine, brother, Welton Clark, and a special great grandson Brayslan Lowery.

He was survived by his spouse Rugene Clark, brother Stacy and Martin Clark, sister Sarah Locklear, children Bridget Lowry (Tim), Tammy Chavis (Ken), Jessie Oxendine (Kimberly), Elizabeth Oxendine. Bonus daughters, Tina Chavis, Tanya Locklear, Hannah Moore, and Zoey Oxendine. A multitude of grandchildren and great grands.
