A TIME TO BE BORN-- Mrs. Rosen Dale Locklear “Mrs. Rose”, 80, of Maxton, NC was born on October 10, 1943 to the late Mr. Dewey Bullard and Mrs. Ethel Mae Bullard. Mrs. Rosen Dale departed her earthly life on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at UNC Health Southeastern where she was surrounded by her family and loved ones as the gates of Heaven were opened wide and she was welcomed home. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rosen Dale is preceded in death by her husband, Horace Locklear and her brothers; Mr. Raybon Bullard, Mr. Buddy Bullard, Mr. Johnny Bullard, Mr. Larry Bullard, Mr. James Bullard and her sisters Mrs. Penny Lowry, Mrs. Martha Mae Owen, Ms. Lois Linda Jacobs and Mrs. Geraldine Oxendine.

A TIME TO BE REMEMBERED--Mrs. Rosen Dale was married to Mr. Horace Locklear for 54 years before his death in 2022. Mrs. Rosen Dale leaves to cherish her memories two daughters, Ms. Christina Michelle Locklear and Mrs. Miranda Locklear (James Derek); one son Mr. Timothy Locklear all of Pembroke, Amy Stricklin and daughter Taylor Jacobs,Two grandchildren: Jacy Mckinley Locklear and Tracen George Locklear, her two sisters Edna Lowery and Earletha (Bobby) and one brother Claybon Bullard. Special friends who she enjoyed spending time with: Anita Oxendine, Lorna Harris, Geraldine Locklear, Judy Barton, Barbara Dial, James Harold and Hazel Collins and Normie Bullard with a host of family, friends and church members.

A TIME TO WORK- Mrs. Rosen Dale worked at Waverly Mills in Laurinburg,NC where she was a textile spinner for 35 years before retiring. Rosen Dale worked there with her brother (Buddy) and two sisters (Edna and Earletha) for a while. She was known as being the cook at work, every year she was in charge of cooking the food for their Christmas Party, it was always a big hit.

A TIME TO LOVE-Mama was not a person for hugging and saying “I Love You”, but she could say it in other ways. She loved making chow-chow and selling it to people in the community. She would also cook food and take to people that were sick and shut-in. In her later years she started making egg custards and pound cakes for people.

She also was active in the Philadelphus Cluster Group. She would make chow-chow to sell at the Christmas Bizaar and also helped make peanut clusters and peanut butter balls to sell. 

A TIME TO SERVE- Sis Rosen Dale was a devoted member of Island Grove Baptist Church for over 50 years where she enjoyed serving in the kitchen to prepare meals for Vacation Bible School, Pastor’s Appreciation, and Founders day. She was very proud to serve her fellow church members her famous slaw and cabbage.
