Rev. Manford Locklear, 87, of Rowland was born on August 21, 1935. He went to his heavenly home on June 12, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Elena Locklear; his wife, Arminda Locklear; brothers, Winford Locklear and Sanford Locklear; sister Mary Carter; sons, Flynn, Roy, Arnold, Anthony Brewington; son-in. law Alvin Collins, grandchildren, William Collins and Jay' Lon Camarillo; granddaughter in law, Shauntina Brewington.
In his early years he worked as a farmer and owned his own dry wall business. In his 40's he was called to preach the word of God. Throughout the years he pastored several churches in the Baptist association. He served the Lord as Pastor for 40+ years. Also in his later years he was the owner of Central Automotive Enterprise. Robeson County has always been his home. He made a lasting impression on everyone and never met a stranger, you could always hear him before you saw him. He was most passionate about the Lord.
Manford is survived by his brother, Alex Locklear, Jr. (Dois) of Prospect; sister, Bonice Bryant of Prospect; son, Simuel Brewington and Chanceford Brewington of the home, daughter, Debra Collins of Lumberton; grandchildren, Flynnette Coble (Lee) of Dunn, Michelle Locklear (Coyounger), Micheal Brewington, Jeremy Brewington, Eric Brewington and William Brewignton all of Rowland and Christina Crosby of Lumberton; 14 great grandchildren and 23 great-great grandchildren; a host of relatives and friends.
Manford always said, “God didn’t give him any children but he sure did bless him with a lot of Family”.
