Ms. Retha May Locklear of Woodhaven Care Center, Lumberton, was born on March 12, 1925; the first daughter to the late Mr. Guthrie Henderson Locklear and Mrs. Frances P. Hunt. She departed this life on October 5, 2019 at Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton, N.C at the age of 94 years.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Margiree Locklear and eleven siblings, James Floyd Locklear, Belton Prentice Locklear, Norwood Locklear, Gus Howard Locklear, Frank Ertle Locklear, Essie Mae Smith, Flora Jane Douglas, Bonnie Lee Strickland, Billy Eugene Locklear, Sylvia Jane Locklear and Carolyn Patrick Hunt.
Ms. Locklear was a lifetime member of Mt. Moriah Church, where she taught Sunday school for the adult ladies. She loved talking to people and helping them to realize their need for the Lord. She loved to watch sports. She would often occupy her time watching baseball or football on T.V.
Ms. Locklear is survived by four siblings, Ruth Ellen Locklear of Raleigh, Ted Collins Locklear (Glenda) of Stewartstown, PA, Thomas Earl Locklear of Pembroke and Tim Locklear (Shelia) of Lumberton; a special niece, Pam Oxendine and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
