Palmer Ray Bryant, 81, of Pembroke, NC, departed this life Wednesday, February 16, 2022. He was the son of the late Mr. Willie F. Bryant and Lula Bryant.
He was the first Native American Indian to be voted into the Maxton City School System of the school board. He later became the Chairman of the School System. Our father served as Superintendent and Sunday School Teacher for New Prospect Holiness Methodist Church. He was also the Chairman of the Lumbee Tribe Elders Committee. Our father believed in serving his fellow man. He ran the good race and fought the good fight. The race is over for him and we know he is in a better place. We will miss you daddy. We thank you for being a light for us to follow.
He was preceded in death by one son, Phillip Ray Bryant.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories, his wife of 54 years, Bonnise L Bryant of the home; three daughters, Rhonda Maynor of Maxton, NC, Angela M. Johnson (James) of Killeen, TX and Tenisha Bryant of Pembroke, NC; one son, David R. Bryant (Ashley) of Lumberton, NC; six grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
