Norma Jean Jones Thompson was born to Alverdia and Walter Jones on December 13, 1932 in Pembroke, NC. Norma journeyed to the open loving arms of her heavenly father on October 08, 2020. Norma is preceded in death by her mother Alverdia Jones Jacobs, her father Walter Jones, a sister Lucille Jones, a brother Walter "Bo" Jones and a sister Madie Vann Montgomery.
Norma is survived by her sister Vivian Locklear, her children - Lydia Jean Cecil(Charles),Norma Louriece "Lori" Good(Norman), Verl Radcliffe "Bucky" Thompson (Anita) and Vernon Ray "Vern" Thompson II. Norma is also survived by her grandchildren Charles Cecil II, Linden Dial Hayes, David Elijah Deese(Gina), Benjamin Isaac Deese, Matthew Llewellyn Good (Meredith), Whitney Hayes Calmes(Drayton), Jordan Christopher Hayes, Nathaniel Monti Good (Talia), Jacob Matthew Deese, Austin Tyler Radcliffe Thompson , Maria Taylor Thompson, six great-grands Brianna, Celena, Ryan, Dominick, Colt and Lila and a host of family and friends.
Norma's education consisted of a BS, Masters and PhD degree in Business. Norma enjoyed every day of her 32 years of employment with UNCP where she served as a secretary, a business professor, Dean of Admissions and Dean of Records and Special programs.
Norma enjoyed shopping, jigsaw and crossword puzzles. She loved ice cream.
Norma was a loving mother and grandmother who shared her strong steadfast faith with her family and everyone. Heaven has received a sweetheart.
