Mary Sue Locklear

Mary S. Locklear (Sue), age 81, of Prospect, NC, peacefully transitioned into her heavenly home on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at UNC Health Southeastern. Born on February 19, 1943 in Robeson County to the late John Scott and Lucille Brewer, Sue leaves behind a legacy of love and faith.

She is preceded in death by her daughter, Lisa Francis; her son, Ray Locklear; her grandson, Paxton Locklear; and her great-granddaughter, Nahiyah Locklear.
 

Sue is survived by her brothers Bobby (Geraldine) Scott and Kermit Scott; her sisters Peggy Poremski and Jackie Godwin; and her three daughters, Denise (Chris) of Rennert NC, Theresa (Kelvin) of Lumberton, and Katrina (Victor) of the home. Sue also leaves behind 17 beloved grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart.

A woman of deep and unwavering faith, Sue found great joy in studying Gods Word, a daily practice that sustained her throughout her life. She cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, whose bonds with her were rich and unique, woven together with love. Her devotion to her Lord Jesus Christ was evident in all she did, and she lived her life with a steadfast reverence that was felt by all who knew her. Sue loved sewing, watching her favorite TV shows, and sharing precious moments with her grandchildren, all of whom will carry her memory in their hearts forever. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing that they will be reunited with her again in paradise.
