Mr. Marcus LaRae Locklear, of Charlotte, North Carolina, was born June 19th, 1968, to Mr. Jimmie L. Locklear and Mrs. Lucy J. Lowery. Mark went to be with his heavenly Father on Friday, March 25th, 2022. Marcus was preceded in death by his mother, Lucy J. Lowery.
Marcus’s first job, where he learned the meaning of hard work and dedication, was with the family-owned logging company that his grandfather Sam and dad Jimmie operated in the 70’s and 80’s.
One of Marcus’s great passions was playing his guitar, writing music, and acting. Mark was a cast member for the well-known outdoor drama “Strike at the Wind” and performed as several key characters for over ten years. He loved seeing his family in the audience as he performed his parts of the well-known outdoor drama which depicted the history of his heritage, the Lumbee Indian Tribe. He moved to Charlotte, NC several years ago where he dedicated his life to Jesus. With his “never met a stranger” personality and his love of God, Mark led several individuals to know the saving grace of God.
He leaves to cherish his memories of two children, Aaron Locklear (Breanna) of Charleston, SC and Ashley Chavis (Travis) of Raynham, NC; three grand-children, Ashton Hunt, Alaysia Chavis, and Liah Chavis, all of Raynham; his Father, Jimmie Locklear (Ruth) of Frankenmuth, MI; three sisters, Misty Locklear of Pembroke, NC; Keenya Locklear (Ryan) of Pembroke, NC; and Kerri Locklear of Pembroke, NC; and a host of relatives and friends.
Marcus never missed an opportunity to make someone laugh or give someone encouraging words. He will be missed by many.
