Lynn & Annie Locklear Obituary

Master Sergeant Lynn Locklear, 85 of  Pembroke, NC was born on June 7, 1939.  He departed his earthly home on Aug, 18,2024 surrounded by family after a long battle with dementia and Leukemia.  He was the son of Tonnie and Swannie Locklear.  He was preceded in death by his parents and all his siblings; Wade Locklear, Glen Locklear, Lonzell Locklear, Kathy Locklear, Anna Rayas, Ted Locklear, and Faye Smith.  
MSG Lynn Locklear graduated from Pembroke High School and then joined the United States Army.  He served in the Army for 27 years followed by Federal Civil Service at Fort Bragg, NC.  He served a tour of duty in Vietnam and spent most of his career at Fort Bragg.  Upon retirement, he completed his Bachelor Degree from Pembroke State University.  He was a dedicated member of Green Pine Freewill Baptist Church serving as deacon for many years until he no longer could attend church.  From his youth until late in life he played a variety of musical instruments, including the banjo, playing gospel and bluegrass music.  He was a member of a gospel group called the Locklear Travelers and played music at many church events and singings over the course of his life with friends Les Norman Locklear and Leon Locklear.  There were others whom he played music with as well including Mr. David Revels.  Our daddy set an example for all of us; a giving heart, humble in spirit, high standards, and most of all raised us in the church to know God our creator and our advocate and savior the Lord Jesus.

Annie R. Locklear, 84 of Pembroke, NC was born on November 11,1939 and entered her eternal home on August 18,2024 , surrounded by family and loved ones. She was the daughter of Lella Bullard and Early Bullard. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Mathias, Porter, Edna Porter, Mary Caldwell, Matthew Porter, Mildred Porter, Sham Porter, Rand Bullard and Simeon Bullard.

Annie R. Locklear was a dedicated member of GreenPine Freewill Baptist church where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years.
Annie’s heart was the true foundation of her home. She was known for her ability to listen without judgment, offering support and encouragement to those who sought it. Friends and family felt comfortable sharing their struggles and triumphs with her, knowing she would respond with empathy and understanding. Annie’s compassionate nature created an atmosphere where everyone could be their authentic selves, fostering a sense of trust and belonging

Annie R Locklear leaves a legacy of making her house a home to everyone serves as a powerful reminder of the impact we can have on those around us. Her unwavering commitment to hospitality, empathy, and community created an environment where everyone felt welcomed and loved. Annie’s home was a testament to the idea that a house becomes a home not through its physical attributes, but through the love and care that fill it. In honoring her memory, we are inspired to carry forward her spirit of kindness and to create spaces that embrace and uplift others, just as she did.

Lynn and Annie Ruth's house was more than just a structure; it was a sanctuary for friends, family, and anyone in need of comfort. Annie had a unique ability to transform her living space into a welcoming home, embodying the true essence of what it means to create an environment where everyone feels valued.

Lynn and Annie R Locklear leaves to cherish their memories ; a daughter:  Crystal D. Locklear of the home; three sons:  Lynn E. Locklear (Amanda) of Red Springs, NC; Lynn A. Locklear (Betty) of Pembroke, NC; and Gary L. Locklear(Brenda) of Pembroke, NC.  six grandchildren; Ashley, Caroline, Evi, Lynn, Gary, Garyn and two great grandchildren Laddison and Addison. A special sister to the both of them Retha Kenworthy and a special niece Trina Bullard and a host of relatives and loved ones..
