Luvine Jacobs Obituary

Well, well, well, it’s with great joy and sadness we announce the passing of our precious mother Luvine Jacobs to her heavenly homes. Luvine was affectionally known by Ivine as “Diddy” and others as “Lou” or Lubbie Jane.” Luvine (85) on Philadelphus Rd. went to be with her savoir on April 4th, 2026, in the comfort of her home.

Luvine (Diddy) was born September 8, 1940, to Claudie & Martha Ann Locklear in Robeson County. She was raised by her maternal grandparents Sheridian (Pappy) and Nancy Jane Locklear (Mammy). Being she was raised by them with some of her cousins she felt they were an extension of her siblings, and she loved them immensely.

Luvine is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Nolan Jacobs, her parents, grandparents, siblings: Ivine, Mary Alice, Annie Lois, Carl Deese and cousins: Catherine, Marvin Roscoe, Marvin Lee (Lucky & Buddy), Bertha Lee (Little Gal) and a son-in-law Carlyle Cummings.

Left to cherish her memories are her children: John Deaton Jacobs, Carol Dean (Larry) Jacobs, Mary Cummings, Nolan Jacobs Jr., and Glenda Lois (LD) Hunt. Her brothers: Thurston & Kirby Locklear, her sisters: Martha Jane Locklear, Mayon (Tyrone) Locklear, Alice (Ray) Cummings, and Margaret Santiago, nine grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.

A glimpse into Luvine: she worked at Converse (BF Goodrich, Goodyear) for twenty-nine and a half years from 1966 through 1996. Her main occupation in life was a seamstress; she loved to sew and mend things for the public and took pride in doing it. Most of the time she did it for no charge. She loved cooking and gardening enjoying the outdoors.

Luvine didn’t have a problem with speaking her mind even though she would step on your toes from time to time, but she still loved you all. During her sickness she called on the Lord many times and she loved him. She was a great mother and wife and will be greatly missed. She cherished the friendships she had; one in particular Jackie Faye Locklear (A True Friend).

Rip (Diddy) you are gone but won’t be forgotten, your memory will live on in the family that knew you Best.
