Lawdell “Luke” Locklear of Pembroke was born on September 12, 1943, to the late L.B. & Annie Bell Locklear. He departed this life on May 19, 2026, at the age of 82, surrounded by his loving family at home.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Marvin Jones, Spurgeon Collins, Stanford Jones, Willie James Jones, James A. Jones, and Charlie P. Locklear; and his sisters, Erletha Jacobs, Annie Neil Honeycutt, Ann P. Soto, and Mary Jones.
Mr. Locklear leaves to cherish his loving memories a devoted wife of 62 years, Mrs. Brenda J. Locklear of the home; one daughter, Pam (Nathan) Lockwood of Pembroke; two brothers, Harold Collins of Pembroke and Earl Clifton (Roberta) Locklear of Pembroke; one sister, Mary Ruth (Grady) Lowery of Prospect; three special children, Tanya McDonald, Tere’ Locklear, and Bryan Locklear; and eight grandchildren: Ian, Nakota, Asa’, Asher, Luke, Madyson, Haven, and Presleigh, along with a host of other relatives and dear friends.
Guided by his faith and grounded in love, Lawdell was the steady foundation and heart of his family. He believed deeply in hard work, helping others, and placing God first in his life. His love for his family was unwavering, and he poured himself into their lives—teaching them the value of a strong work ethic, sharing his passion and knowledge of fishing and hunting, and most importantly, showing them how to love and care for one another. His wisdom and guidance will continue to echo in their hearts for years to come.
Many will miss the fresh eggs he faithfully collected from his hens, as well as the fruits and vegetables he lovingly grew and generously shared with others. His legacy of faith, love, and selflessness will live on through all those who were blessed to know him.
