Mr. John Pat Locklear, 82 of the Prospect Community in Maxton, NC was the son of the late John and Emily Locklear. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Debra Cummings and two brothers, Edward, “Aworth” Locklear and Edward “Ada” Locklear.
He attended Pembroke State College, class of ’61. He served for two years in the US Army from 1963-1965. He was a dedicated school teacher and assistant principal for 32 years in Robeson and Hoke Counties public school system. He was a long-time member of Preston Gospel Chapel where he taught Sunday School, was a song leader and a speaker for many years. John loved the outdoors, raising cows and goats, gardening and keeping an immaculate yard.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 59 years, Deletha Locklear; his two children, J. Mark Locklear (Erica Abrams) of Asheville, NC and Faline Locklear Dial (Patrick) of Maxton, NC; three grandchildren, Madison Oxendine Dial, Laney Brooke Dial and Faith Emily Locklear; four sisters, Lillian Teen Harris, Merril Locklear, Christine Oxendine and Emily Oxendine; three brothers, Charlie T. Locklear, Stephen Locklear and Colonel R. Locklear and a host of other family and friends
