Jessica Chavis

It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jessica Renee Chavis, 42, of Pembroke, NC on June 9, 2025 at TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, Tn.

Born November 18, 1982 in Scotland County, she was preceded in death by her father the late Mr. Bennie Chavis Jr. and her sister Tina Sue Cummings.

Jessica is survived by her three children: Chloe Alanis Bullard, Caspian Alexander Chavis and Colton Dean Cummings all of Pembroke. Her Mother Alice Faye Chavis, of Pembroke. Three siblings Norma Hunt of Pembroke, Carol Oxendine of Fayetteville and Michael Chavis of Syracuse, NY. Her partner Macarthur Washington of Marion, SC; and a host of close relatives and friends.

She was a beloved daughter, a loving mother, and an extraordinary soul who gave everything she had to everyone she loved. When she did something she did it with all she had and was particular about how she did it. This includes loving everyone with everything she had. Jessica was the kind of person who would give you her last of whatever she had, the coat off her back, or her last ounce of energy if she thought you needed it more than herself. She had the uncanny ability to make you feel as if you had known her for a lifetime even if you had only just met. Her laughter was infectious and her hugs were healing. She never missed a chance to lift another up and did it with a smile even if she was feeling down herself. To say she will be missed feels impossibly small. She was a light in our lives, A reminder of what real, unselfish love looks like. Our world is dimmer without her, but we are forever and eternally grateful for the time we had and the memories she gifted us with.
