James Grantham Oxendine

    Mr. James “Shorty” Grantham Oxendine, age 89 of Pembroke, North Carolina was born to the late Mr. Moses and Mrs. Julia M. Oxendine. He departed this life on June 17, 2020 at his home. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Mr. Calhoun, Mr. Moses and Mr. Lawton Oxendine and four sisters, Mrs. Ila Jones, Mrs. Blanche Jones, Mrs. Gokonile Bullard and Mrs. Evelyn Maynor. Mr. James was a retired carpenter.

    Mr. James was married to the late Mrs. Bertha Barton Oxendine. To this union produced five daughters, Ms. Regina Oxendine of the home, Mrs. Sheila (Ricky) Chavis of Maxton, NC, Mrs. Nena (Mitch) Lowry of Irmo, SC, Mrs. Harveline (Charles) Clark of Maxton, NC and Mrs. Carlene (Anthony) Cummings of Pembroke, NC; six grandchildren, Karrin (Chris) Hammonds, Justin Chavis, James (Sabrina) Lowry, John Lowry, Charles Jr. (CJ) Clark and Joshua Lowry; three great grands, Aniyah K. Hammonds, Kavin J. Hammonds and Josephine (Josie) Grace Lowry; a brother, Mr. Everett B. Oxendine of St. Claire Shores, MI; a sister, Mrs. Juliet Brayboy of Maxton, NC and a host of relatives and friends.
