James Earl Locklear

James Earl Locklear went to his heavenly home at the age of 70, on October 2, 2022. He was born April 5, 1952 to the late Bostic and Rosie Locklear in Lumberton, NC. 

He was raised in the Deep Branch Community and Graduated Pembroke High School in 1970. Earl shared many stories about growing up and especially how he had to work before and after school on the family farm and home place. He attributed how he was raised to the strong work ethic that he had all of his life. He worked as a skilled brick mason until he began a job that he loved with the city of Lumberton, where he had many close friends. He retired from the city of Lumberton in 2014. Earl also farmed the family land and home place. He did this to not only feed his family, but to also teach his children how to farm and to share their bountiful blessings with other family members, friends and neighbors in the community.

In addition to his parents, Earl was preceded in death by a brother, Allen Locklear.

Earl is survived by children, Perry (Delphia) Locklear, Quenton (Sabrina) Locklear, Chico Locklear and Bobbi Jo Hunt; twelve grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; first wife, Christine Locklear and second wife, Shirley Locklear; two sisters, Marilyn (Timmie) Sampson and Linda Locklear and a host of other relatives and friends.

His last wishes to his family and friends was that they know the Lord as their personal Savior and to prepare for their heavenly homecoming.  Earl expressed he was ready to go to heaven, but those that loved and cherished him were not prepared for the broken heart they have suffered. His stories, memories and love will be passed down by his family and we know one day we will see Earl again.
