Hurley Locklear

Mr. Hurley Locklear, 79, of the Prospect Community, was born in Robeson County on June 6, 1946, to the late Garner Locklear and Ocie Locklear. He entered eternal rest on December 14, 2025 at Scotland Hospital.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Locklear was preceded in death by his son, Robert Locklear; five brothers, James Locklear, Garner Locklear Jr., Willie Locklear, Ray Locklear, and Harold Locklear; and three sisters, Nessie, Margaret, and Patsy.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory his devoted wife of 50 years, Margaret Locklear; one daughter, Liza Locklear of the home; two sons, Isaac Locklear of the home and Clint Locklear of Red Springs, North Carolina; and eight grandchildren: Angel, Jayla, Elie, Jacobie, Avery Anna, Maya, Kylie, and Robin.

Mr. Locklear was employed at Converse, where he worked as a finisher for 30 years until an injury in the 1990s ended his career there. Following his injury, he began working in the worm business, where he became well known and affectionately referred to as “the Worm Man.”
