Howard Jones

Mr. Howard “Teeney” Jones, 84, of Pembroke, entered into Glory on August 30, 2021, at UNC Hospital.  He was born to the late Griffin and Sophronia Jones on May 25, 1937.  Mr. Howard joins in Glory his wife, Alene Jones.  He is preceded in death by his parents; five brothers: Herbert Jones, Joseph Jones, Clifton Jones, Grady Lee Jones and Samuel Jones; five sisters: Illa Mae Clark, Eva Mae Bullard, Elma Lee Locklear, Marie Locklear and Joni Oxendine.

        Bro. Howard was a charter member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, faithfully serving more than 35 years until his declining health.  He was an avid fisherman, “wetting a hook” every chance he got.  Mr. Howard enjoyed visits with family and friends and watching Hwy 710 traffic from his swing under the magnolia tree. 

        Graveside services will be conducted Thursday, September 2, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Roger Strickland officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  He leaves to cherish his memory one son, Terry Van Jones (Connie); four daughters: Denise Bullard (Anthony), Beverly Brewer (Richie), Alesia Cummings and Casondra Locklear (Terry); eight grandchildren: Christian A. Cummings, Colby S. Jones, Quoriakley W. Locklear (Jasmine), Zachary C. Bullard, Keeley B. Harris (DJ), River D. Locklear, Isabella L. Bullard and Jesse D. Jones; four great grandchildren: Master Nakoma C. Locklear, Master Jolan C. Locklear, Master Kohen L. Locklear and Master Nodin A. Cummings; four brothers: Starlin Jones, Leon Jones, Griffin Jones, Jr., and Ricky Jones; and three sisters: Brenda Locklear, Catherine Smith and Mary Locklear; and a host of family and friends.
