Mrs. Hazel Leona Wilkins Strickland, 78 of Pembroke was born March 6, 1944 in Robeson County to the late Mr. Harvey Halloway Wilkins and Mrs. Lillian Josephine Wilkins and departed this life Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at her home.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hazel was preceded in death by her siblings, Mr. Hansel Wilkins and Mr. Oscar Wilkins, her dear aunt, Mrs. Barbara Locklear, and her grandson Mr. Isaac Strickland.
As a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Mrs. Hazel will be truly missed by the many lives she touched throughout her life. She will be remembered for her service and dedication at Harpers Ferry Baptist Church and for her work as a cafeteria assistant for the Public Schools of Robeson County. Mrs. Hazel shared her wisdom with others about our Heavenly Father and her wish was for all she knew to meet her again in Heaven. She showed her love for others with food, desserts, and her delicious chowchow and pepper jelly. Our loving mother’s presence, memory, and testimony will forever endure in ours and many others’ hearts.
Mrs. Strickland leaves to cherish her memories, her husband of 58 years, Mr. Luke Strickland; three daughters, Mrs. JoEllen Jones, Mrs. Rhonda Dial (Ray), and Mrs. Ashley Locklear (Timothy) and two sons, Mr. Robert Strickland, and Mr. Julian Strickland (Wanda); three brothers, Mr. Dock Wilkins, Mr. Harvey Jr. Wilkins, and Mr. Stacey Wilkins; 15 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
