Mr. Gerald Strickland, 71, of Pembroke, NC was born June 2, 1949 to the late Mr. Timothy and Mrs. Ruthie Strickland and departed this life June 1, 2021 at Duke University Hospital.
He is preceded in death by his brothers, Truman Strickland, Timothy Strickland Jr, and Donald Strickland.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Mrs. Brenda Strickland of the home; His son: William Chad Strickland; His Daughter: Jeri Lynn Strickland. His Brothers: Verlin (Bonnie) Strickland and Ronald (Sandra) Strickland; His Sisters: Sue Ann (Rabon) Maynor, Linda (Chester) Tyler, Janice (Stan) Grady, and Marie (Fredrick) Moore. His Grandchildren: Zachary Emanuel, Makaylee Emanuel, Chloe Strickland, Jordon Strickland, and Jaelon Strickland. He was a role model to many adopted community children and host of relatives and friends.
Mr. Strickland was a man of varied interests and passions. He was a member of Prospect United Methodist Church, enjoyed playing golf, traveling, and entertaining family and friends. His early career life began as a member of the United States Army, followed by a career as an Environmental Specialist with the Robeson County Department of Public Health for 30 years, as well as a small business owner.
Over the years he was involved in various organizations, including the State Board of Sanitarian Examiners, Pembroke Jaycee Civics Club, Lumbee Regional Development Association, Prospect Volunteer Fire Department, and local, county, and state committees.
