Obituary
Mr. Gerald Austin Brooks 87, of 44 O’Quinn Rd, Maxton was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, July 10, 2023 at Southeastern Regional Medical Center. He was born July 30, 1935 to the late O’Quinn and Bertha Brooks. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Clara Mae Brooks (The Love of his life), his daughter Toni T. Brooks and granddaughter Natasha Brooks, brothers Hector (Heck) Brooks and Eugene Brooks, sisters Catherine Dial, Evelyn Hood and Mary Revels.
He leaves behind his children, Jerry (Lexie), Bertha, James Clevelad, Tabetha (James) Brooks all of Maxton; and a sister Francis, grandchildren, Travis Locklear, Ryan Brooks, Keisha Locklear and Patrick locklear all of Maxton and Perry Brooks of Laurinburg; six great grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was a hard working farmer, volunteer firefighter and loving husband, father and grandfather. He was well known and respected by many in the Evans Crossroads Community.
