Gary’s daughters’ friends were special to the Thompsons and spent many days together in the home in their youth, he considered them to be his girls, special moments spent with them such as riding the girls through Pembroke on the limo will be lasting memories.

Rev. Thompson was a proud Army Veteran, but he was most proud of being a dedicated preacher and teacher of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Rev. Thompson was called into the ministry and started preaching at the young age of 15, preaching his first sermon at Preston Gospel Chapel. Rev. Thompson preached throughout the region for many years and pastored Harpers Ferry Baptist Church and later Deep Branch Missionary Baptist Church until his health declined. He was a member of Island Grove Baptist Church where he assisted in teaching and preaching for many years.
Rev. Thompson, along with his wife, Patsy founded Thompson’s Funeral Home in Pembroke on July 3, 1988, he, along with his family has served the community and grieving families for more than 30 years. Rev. Thompson always considered this part of his ministerial work and made it a point to share the gospel with grieving families. He not only preached the gospel; HE LIVED THE GOSPEL. Although, he will be truly missed, Rev. Thompson is where is has strived and longed to be for many years. He is now healed, whole and with his Savior.

Thompson’s Funeral Home Staff will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
