Garner (Buddy) Locklear, Jr.

     Bro. Garner Locklear, Jr. (Buddy), age 82, of Pembroke, NC was born on April 28, 1938 and departed this life on February 15, 2021 at Morrison Manor is Laurinburg.   

     He is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Locklear and his parents Sarah C. Lowery and Garner Locklear, Sr.; three brothers, Willie B. Locklear, Harold Locklear and James Wynn; three sisters, Mary L. Oxendine, Lula Chavis and Margaret Pevie.

     He leaves to cherish his memories, his daughter Suzette (Terry) DiLeonardi of Arizona; four grandchildren, Cyndy Joy, Heavynn, Cheylynn, and Victoria all of Arizona;  he was blessed with wonderful caretakers a special niece, Betty Faye Oxendine of Shannon & one special brother, Ray Field Locklear of Rowland and one special, nephew, Marcus Bullard of Pembroke; three sisters, Patsy Thompson (Gary) of Prospect, Nessie Pierce of Lumberton, and Shelby Tobias (Joseph) of Baltimore MD and one brother, Hurley Locklear (Margaret) of Prospect; three step sons; Mike (Autumn), Kenny (Joanie)  and David; one step daughter, Sandy (Billy); special neighbors, Roger Dean Locklear & Lillie  Mae Chavis and niece, Joanna Locklear of St. Pauls and a host of other relatives and friends.

    Buddy loved the Lord. His passion and his ministry was playing the guitar at Praise & Worship Church; where he was a faithful member. He played at many rest homes whose residents enjoyed listening to him play weekly. Every morning he had breakfast at Fran’s Restaurant with his friend (Robert) Fran and the workers made him feel at home and treated him as a special friend that they grew to love.  He will be greatly missed by many and remembered as someone that always left you smiling.

“Rest now in the arms of Jesus, Soon we will meet again our beloved father, brother, uncle & friend”…
