Mrs. Florence Ella Bryant, age 98, of Maxton, NC, began her life June 14, 1920 and began her new heavenly life on January 28, 2019.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Alford and Sarah Eliza Bullard Lambert; her husband, Willie P Bryant; daughters, Virginia Bryant and Linda B Hammonds; sisters, Elizabeth Worriax and Eliza Lambert and grandchildren, Kent Bryant, David Bryant, Sandie McMillian and Hedrick Dial.
Mrs. Florence was known for playing baseball at Prospect School. Her coach asked her to travel to New York to out for The Women’s Professional Baseball Team. She had many talents; sewing, crafts, quilting and making her famous hamburgers and cakes. She was one of the founding members of Island Grove Church where she was very active. She helped build the club house; she was a Sunday School teacher, WMU Director and helped to lay the floor in the first church.
She leaves to cherish her memories her children; Christine (Eddie) Matchett, Ella M. Jackson, Myrtis Collins, Delores (Rayon) Locklear, Wilma (Herbert) Locklear, Bonnie Clark, Willie Bryant, Jr. and Myra (Robert) Farrah. She was blessed with twenty three grandchildren, fourty-four great grandchildren, eighteen great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
