Fannie Jacobs Obituary

Ms. Fannie Jacobs, age 83, of the Prospect Community, was born on April 18, 1937, to the late James and Mary Jacobs.   She entered the gates of Heaven peacefully at her home on September 22, 2020.  She was preceded in death by her husband, James Coy Porter, her daughters Janeth Porter and Ramona Porter, her siblings Rosa Lee Markulin,  Ruth Brayboy, and James McGirt.  She leaves to cherish her memory, her faithful daughters, Barbara Deese (Gene Marshall), Freda Porter, Kimberly Clancy (Danny), and Cecily Maynor (Venus).  Ms. Fannie was blessed with eleven grandchildren whom she adored, Gene Cornelius, Dwayne Allen, James Quincy, Jason Mitchell, Christopher, Brian James, Yvonne, Cody, Elan Hunter, Secoyia, and Orri Seth.  Her legacy will live through her fourteen great-grandchildren.  She also leaves behind a host of friends and family who will miss her dearly along with her cherished friend Annie Jarvie McGirt and her caregiver Mary Brooks.

Ms. Fannie was a strong matriarch who will be greatly missed by all.  She was a member of Prospect United Methodist Church.  She devoted her time visiting family and friends and spent many years as a caregiver to others. She always provided support and love for her family and friends. The Bible teaches us that “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.”  Ms. Fannie fought a good fight, and she is in eternal rest with the Lord. Today, we take comfort in the fact that she was a born again Christian.  Her life was a living example of the Bible verses, Proverbs 31:25-26:  “ She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.  She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.”  We, the family of Fannie Lee Jacobs, are so grateful to God for pouring the blessing of His love into a mother like ours.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Prospect United Methodist Church Memorial Fund in her memory.
