Evelyn Locklear

Mrs. Evelyn Oxendine Locklear, Age 85, of Prospect Went home to be with the lord on Sunday, May 4th 2025, at Southeastern Memorial Hospital surrounded by family.

She was born September 29th of 1939, in Robeson county to the late Mr. Council and Rosa Lee Oxendine.

In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her Husband: Mr. Golden Demery Locklear, One son: Mr. Micheal Anthony Locklear, Two Grandsons: Mr. Micheal Antonio Locklear Jr., Mr. Justin Paul Sanderson, Two Son-in-laws: Terry Lester Jacobs and Roderick Dale Sandeson, Four brothers: Steward, Elery, Steve and James “Sam” Oxendine and One Sister: Carol Oxendine Hunt.

Evelyn was a good devoted woman, she helped raise every grandchild she had, and made sure there was Sunday dinner ready  right after Church. She attended Prospect Methodist Church for many years but also enjoyed going with family to their church. 

She leaves to cherish her memories One sister: Cleatis Oxendine Hunt of Fairmont, Two children: Nita Lynn Locklear, Golden Locklear JR, Seven Grandchildren: Kevin Locklear, Joseph Locklear, Jacobi Jacobs, Tenita Jacobs, Shenita Sanderson, Brittany Locklear, Priscilla Lowery, Ten Great-Grandchildren plus two honorary great-grandchildren.
