Mrs. Elsie Mae Hunt, 84, of Lumberton, NC went home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 27, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was born on July 26, 1938 in Robeson County to the late Richard and Magelene Hunt.
Mrs. Elsie was a devoted mother, grandmother, and sister. She was a dedicated Christian who relied on the Lord in raising her six children. She was a member of Branch Street United Methodist Church and worked tirelessly in the church in numerous capacities.
She is preceded in death by her late husband, Willie “Pete” Hunt Jr.; two daughters-in-law, Angel and Judy Hunt; six sisters and four brothers.
Mrs. Elsie leaves to cherish her memories five sons, Richard Hunt of the home, Anthony Hunt of Fairmont, Edward Hunt (Mary) and Darnel Hunt (Regina) of Lumberton, and Jeffery Hunt (Wanda) of Pembroke; one daughter, Darlene Hammonds (William) of Lumberton; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters Lillian Sampson and Shirley Locklear of Lumberton; three brothers, FM Hunt (Ray) and Steve Hunt (Ann) of Fairmont, and RM Hunt (Bonnie) of Lumberton and a host of relatives and friends.
