Ms. Dawn Michelle Butler, 55, of Pembroke was born November 8, 1965 to the late Horace and Mary Francis Butler. She peacefully went to her Heavenly home Thursday, November 26, 2020 at Southeastern Regional Medical Center. She is preceded in death by her sister, Mrs. Deborah Campbell and her special friend, Stewart Cummings.
She is survived by her children, Mr. Brandon Maynor of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Dedra Puritt of Fairmont and Ms. Brandy Maynor of Lumberton; three grandchildren Braxton Hunt her little shadow, Layla Oxendine and Ryleeann Maynor; two brothers, Anthony Lynn Butler (Ruth), Mr. Darryl Lane Butler (Kim) of Pembroke; two uncles, Mr. Dorsey Chavis (Phyllis) of Lumberton and Mr. Grady Chavis (Cynthia) of Pembroke; and a host of other relatives and friends.
God knew exactly where to place Dawn because He gifted her with a special love, agape love. This love was shown at Southeastern Regional Medical Center where she was a devoted nurse for many years. She always greeted patients with a smile. When she was not on duty, she stayed with patients, calming and encouraging them while treating them as family. She was a giver and never took life for granted. The emergency room staff are one “Big Family” that she loved dearly and she will be greatly missed.
While listening to gospel music God began to draw Dawn closer to Him. On February 2020 she surrendered her life to Christ. Her light of peace, love, and contentment began to shine for everyone to see. Now she has arrived in Glory with the Lord, “shine on our dear friend, shine on!”
