David Locklear Obituary

David Glenn Locklear, 52, of Pembroke, was born on July 3, 1973. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sanford and Helen Locklear.

David passed away on the farm at his place of residence on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, surrounded by the love of family and the legacy of a life lived with heart, pride, and hard work.

Known affectionately to many as “The Legend,” David was a proud member of the Lumbee People, a heritage he deeply loved and honored throughout his life. His identity, values, and strength were rooted in his community, and he carried that pride in everything he did.

He had a huge heart one overflowing with love, generosity, and loyalty. David was known for his humor, his presence, and his ability to make those around him feel seen and cared for. To know him was to know someone who gave freely of himself.

A master of his trade, David was known as one of the best sheet rockers around. He took great pride in his work, earning respect through his skill, dedication, and strong work ethic. He deeply loved his brothers and the farm, where he found peace, purpose, and connection to family and land.

David leaves behind his beloved son, Joseph Locklear; one sister, Teresa Locklear (Ronald); and four brothers, Michael Locklear (Sharon), Jerry Locklear (Rena), Sanford Locklear Jr., and Jonathan Locklear (Alisha), all of Pembroke. A special grandchild, Jaylan Lowery. He is also survived by many extended family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

David Glenn Locklear’s legacy lives on through his family, his work, his community, and the many lives he touched. Though he will be deeply missed, he will always be remembered as a man of love, pride, and heart—a true Legend.
