Daniel Locklear Obituary

Mr. Daniel Locklear “Sonnyboy,” 86, of Pembroke, North Carolina, was born April 22, 1939, to the late Stanley and Carabell Locklear, and departed for his Heavenly home on September 28, 2025.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charlie Fairel Locklear, Delton Locklear, and Stanley Locklear, Jr.; sisters, Shirley Locklear, Evelyn Locklear, Velma Edwards, and Thelma Locklear; brothers-in-law, Lloyd Edwards, Lawrence Locklear, Lambert Brewington, and Howard Kenneth Holtkamp; and sisters-in-law, Clella Locklear, Rachel Locklear, Martha Lukens, and Mary Margaret Holtkamp.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 56 years, Alice Dzeroogian Locklear of the home; children, David Christopher Locklear of the home, Crystal Ann Bullard (Tim) of Prospect, NC, Michael Daniel Locklear (Marites) of Lawrenceville, Georgia, and Allison Ann Locklear of Fraser, Michigan; brother, Milton Ray Locklear; sisters, LeeIla Oxendine (Jimmie) and Ann Sue Brewington, all of Pembroke, NC; seven grandchildren, Sebastian David Locklear, Heaven Leigh Locklear, Josephine Marie Sun, Ivhan Michael Locklear, Sophia Grace Bullard, Gabriella Hope Bullard, and Saylor Faith Bullard; and a great-granddaughter, Reign Leigh O’Neal. He also leaves behind his brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, John Jerry Dzeroogian (Lynne) and Fred Lukens.

Daniel was raised in the Mt. Airy community of Pembroke, NC. He later moved to Michigan, where he met his wife, Alice, and built a family while working in the skilled auto industry as a Job Setter. He retired from General Motors Gear & Axle in Hamtramck, Michigan after 22½ years of dedicated service. Eventually, Daniel returned to North Carolina to be near his family and friends. Known to many as “Sonnyboy,” he was remembered for his cheerful laughter, friendliness, love of old muscle cars, and his joy in talking, joking, and having fun. A devoted Christian, he faithfully attended Kingdom Place Church in Lumberton, NC.
