Connie Jones

Connie Francis Jones, age 60, of Pembroke, NC, was born on July 28, 1964, to the late Belton and Mollie Bell Smith. She peacefully went to her Heavenly Home on July 19, 2025.

In addition of her parents, Connie was preceded in death by one brother, Belton Smith Jr., five sisters: Dora Oxendine, Gail Locklear, Judy Strickland, Annie Rogers, and Mary Margrett Locklear.

Connie will be remembered as a devoted Christian, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She had a special gift for bringing people together and found her greatest joy in spending times with her family and friends. Connie dedicated 16 years of service to LRDA and approximately 15 years to Lumberton Correctional Institution.

She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband of 42 years, John Mark Jones Sr.; two sons, John Mark Jones Jr. (wife Natalie) and Corey Edward Jones (wife Zoe); and six cherished grandchildren; John III, Nylena, Asher, Sadie, Lee’Andon, and Navy.

Connie is also survived by seven sisters: Dorothy Godwin, Donna Smith (Ralph), Eleanor (Mancil), Sheryl Locklear (Arnold), Allie Mae Jacobs (Ron), Veanna Monroe, Patricia Locklear (Gary); and six brothers: Sherwood Lowry (Linda), Jerry Locklear, James Smith (Ruby), Colden Locklear (Elenora), Harry Locklear, and Larry Locklear, as well as John Charles Locklear.

She will be deeply missed by a host of nieces, nephews,  special niece: Baliegh Malcom, extended family, and dear friends, along with many beloved sisters-in-law/caretakers: Jean Evans, Dean Jones, Rose Jones, and Mary Oxendine.

Her legacy of love, faith, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
