Reverend Claimon “Papa” Tyler, 100, Red Springs, NC, was born December 26, 1921 to the late Henry and Bertha Tyler. He departed this life August 23, 2022 and met his heavenly father and entered into his eternal resting place.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Grace Bullard Tyler; his sons, James Tyler, Jr., and Talmon Tyler; one daughter, Gerldine Tyler Hunt; grandchildren, George Dewitt Oxendine, James Anthony Hunt, Kathryn Grace Hunt; brothers, Junious Tyler (Pup), Winford Tyler (Monk), and Billy Dean Tyler; and sisters, Berline Jacobs, Mary Tyler & Evelyn Tyler.
He is survived by his son, Claimon Lee Tyler of Winston Salem (Peggy); his daughters, Evelyn Oxendine of Rowland, Mary E. Hunt of Fairmont and Bertha Hunt (Russell) Red Springs; one grand daughter, Grace Merinda Swaim (Jason) of Winston Salem.
Reverend Claimon Tyler Pastored “Pilgrims’ Way Holiness Church” for approximately 30 years. He and his wife spent endless hours visiting the sick and holding home services for the shut-ins. They were highly respected in the community. They loved the Lord and their family. While Mr. Tyler was able to drive, he loved visiting Hardee’s and the Piggly Wiggly. He will be greatly missed.
Visitation is Saturday, August 27, 2022 Thompson's Funeral Home 1:00 p.m. Funeral will follow at 2:00 p.m.
