Christine (Hammonds) Moore

Christine Hammonds Moore, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home on WL Moore Road in the Prospect Community on Wednesday, October 22, 2025. She had just celebrated her 82nd birthday.
Born on October 15, 1943, Christine was preceded in death by her parents, Sanford and Annie Jane Hammonds, and Curt Locklear. From the beginning, she embodied resilience and strength—qualities that carried her through a full and meaningful life, and sustained her through an extended illness with Alzheimer’s disease. Even in her later years, when her body and mind grew frail, she found joy dancing with family and friends to the music of Elvis Presley and Percy Sledge.
Christine, “Boss”, shared 63 years of love, laughter, and hard work with her devoted husband, Clement Richard Moore. It takes a special woman to be a farmer’s wife, and Christine embraced that role with grace and grit.
Christine was the proud mother of four children: Karen Lloyd (Elliott) of the Prospect Community, Angelina Horowitz (Max) of Roswell, Ga, Jasmine Dial (Tuck) of Fort Mill, SC, and Landon Moore (Rachel) also of the Prospect Community. Her legacy lives on in them and in the values she instilled—hard work, resilience, and the joy of simple pleasures.
Christine was also blessed with ten grandchildren: Ariana Lloyd, Aaron Lloyd, Soyer Freeman, Laken Horowitz, Nadia Dial, Zoey Dial, Tucker Dial, Abigail Moore, Leighton Moore, and Lucas Moore; and four great-grandchildren: Tylon, Brayson, Paisley, and Malaya.
A brilliant woman, Christine started her early career as a teacher and afterwards spent over 20 years working with the Lumbee Regional Development Association, where she served as a grant writer and contributed to the JTPA Program. After retirement, she found peace and joy on a quiet pier with a fishing rod in hand.
Christine also leaves behind a host of other relatives, friends, and loving caregivers who have helped over the years during her sickness.
The family will receive visitors from 2:00p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 25th at Prospect Community Church. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m.
