Berdie Bullard, 74, of Maxton North Carolina, was born March 11, 1952, to the late Ms. Clarise Bullard Locklear of Maxton and the late Roosevelt Scott of Maxton. He departed his mortal life May 24, 2026, into his internal home surrounded by his family.
Berdie Bullard was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents the late Russell and Daisy B. Lowry; daughter Tabatha Marcella Locklear; four sisters; and ten brothers.
Berdie was the proud and successful owner of Bullard’s Drywall for 47 years, a testament to his hard work and dedication, deeply committed to his community, he served with honor as the Prospect Fire Chief for several years. His faith and desire to help others led him to start the food pantry at Prospect Community Church, where he also faithfully served on the Board of Trustees and was an active member of the Community Men’s Group. Outside of his business and community service, Berdie found great joy in the outdoors, especially rabbit hunting and running his dog kennel. Above all, his favorite moments were spent at the beach, creating lasting memories with his beloved family.
Berdie Bullard cherished his wife Barbara Bullard of 51 years of the home his two daughters Dynel Oxendine and husband Kevin of Apex and Stephanie Lowry and husband Chavan of Maxton and one son Berdie Austan Bullard and finance Sandy Fields of Maxton; 5 grandchildren Chavan Hunter Lowry and wife Michaela, Michael Cole Oxendine, Chaylynn Lowry (My only granddaughter, The Queen), Daniel Caden Oxendine, and Berdie Austin Bullard Jr. and two great grandchildren. Four maternal brothers and three sisters of the late Clarise Locklear and three paternal sisters of the late Roosevelt Scott; and a host of relatives and friends.
