Ms. Rosie Lee Cummings Locklear, 94, of Maxton, NC was born December 5 th , 1929, in
Alfordsville, NC to Willie Cummings and Nora Neil Cummings. She entered her heavenly home
on March 28, 2024.
Ms. Lee was preceded in death by her husband Lacy Locklear, one daughter, Sandra, four
sons, Michael, Robert, Ronald, Bruce and grandson, Bryan.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories one daughter, Kathy Chavis, one son, Donald
‘Duck’ Locklear, two sisters, Freida Stroble (Joe) of Greenville, SC, Betty Carroll (Paul) of
Albemarle, NC, two brothers, Edward Luther Hunt of Laurinburg, NC and Bernice Hunt of
Richfield, NC. Grandchildren, Kelly Locklear, Melissa Hope Locklear (Bryon), LeeChelle Brooks
(Edward), Kristina Oxendine (Bernice), Rory Robin Locklear (Amanda), and Great-Grands,
Harvey “Nick” Maynor, Marion Chavis, Fallon Chavis, Riley Brooks, Drake Brooks, Brylee
Oxendine, Gaige Brooks and Shay Locklear. One Great-Great Grandchild, her fifth generation,
Bryan Clay Carter and special nieces, Paulette Davis and Lisa Hunt, as well as a host of other
relatives and friends.
In Ms. Lee’s home, love flowed freely, comfort was abundant, and every guest felt embraced
and cherished. Her love for cooking brought joy and fulfillment to all who were fortunate to place
their feet under her table. Her absence will leave a void that cannot be filled, but her legacy of
love and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing “Mama,
Grandma, Sister, Aunt, and Friend”. You will be missed.
