Our mom’s home was warm, welcoming and open to all who entered. She was a phenomenal cook who could never make just one pan of biscuits. Mom was the true definition of a Proverbs 31 Virtuous Woman. When she was able to work, she worked third shift at West Point Stevens to ensure that her children had a home cooked meal every night. During harder times in her life, she not only worked third shift but she would be in the tobacco fields when she got off work. Summer times were filled with canning fresh vegetables for her family. As her grandchildren came along, she took on the new role of the world’s best grandma. She again made sure she cooked every night. Sundays she would bring the family together around her table with her food. Her legacy not only taught new moms what a mother should be but her giving and kind nature taught her family how a Christian life should be lived. Her death leaves a huge whole in our lives but her memory leaves love in our hearts.
