Diane Michelle Smith was born in Richmond, Virginia on February 12, 1969. She went on to be with the Lord on May 1, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Mr. Belton “Buck” Smith and Ms. Jennifer Oxendine Smith. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents the late Mr. Valdosta & Mrs. Gertrude Locklear; her paternal grandparents the late Mr. Belton Smith Sr. & Mrs. Viola Smith Brewington. Her younger brother Mr. Colin Lee Smith also preceded her in death.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories three amazing daughters; Ms. Megan Smith (Madison) of Pembroke, Ms. Elizabeth Locklear (Robert) of Fayetteville NC and Ms. Casey Locklear (Shelton) of Maxton. She was married to Mr. William Kessler of Laurel Hill NC. Four beloved grandchildren; Miss Rayanna Locklear, Miss Makeely Cheek, Master John Anthony Dial and Master Colton Jones.
She also leaves behind her sisters Carla Smith Montoya (Donald), Heather Hunt (James Ray) of Pembroke; Leann Vazquez of Clarendon NC; her brother Savage Smith of New York. She was also reared by her uncle the late Mr. Leroy Robert Oxendine and Mrs. Katrina Maynor Oxendine.
Diane was kind and easy going. She was proud of her trade as a drywall finisher. She was taught by her Uncle Robert and followed in his footsteps. She would always say “making this easy money”. She was respected by her co-workers and was always employed. She has been described as “always a good friend” and “always a hard worker”. She was always encouraging others when she would post “everyone have a blessed and wonderful day”! She enjoyed sending positive messages to others.
