Mrs. Eliza Jane Sampson 75, of 186 Liza’s Lane of the Prospect Community was born January 13, 1941 to the late Mr. Luther W. and Mrs. Nora S. Moore. She departed for her heavenly home on July 19, 2016 at her home.
Mrs. Sampson was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Hunt and Mrs. Cleo Locklear; four brothers, Mr. Andrew Locklear, Mr. Harbert Moore, Mr. Earl Moore and Mr. Bill Moore.
She was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and a dearly beloved “Aunt Jane.” She lived a life of service to her community by being a caretaker, a seamstress, childcare provider and a long time member of the Prospect Ladies Auxiliary of which she was a Charter Member and serviced for approximately 40 years. Mrs. Sampson will be missed by many.
Mrs. Sampson is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Genevieve (Clonnie) Jones of Maxton and Ms. Nan S. Locklear of Prospect Community; four sons, Mr. James Ray (Laurie) Locklear, Mr. Herman G. Locklear, Mr. Randy (Teresa) Locklear and Mr. Ladeau (Sheila) Sampson all of Prospect Community; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Baker of Indiana and Mrs. Mabel Cummings of Prospect Community; three brothers, Mr. Carl Moore and Mr. Richard Moore both of Prospect Community and Mr. Claude Moore of Oak Island, NC; 13 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, many special nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
