Charles William “Bill” Moore

PROSPECT — Charles William “Bill” Moore, 84, of the Prospect Community was the fourth born of 11 children to the late Luther W. and Nora S. Moore on July 11, 1931. He departed this life to continue service to his Lord on March 10, 2016, at his home.

The funeral will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Prospect United Methodist Church, 3929 Missouri Road in Maxton, the Rev. Bill James Locklear officiating. Burial will follow in Moore family cemetery.

Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his wife Eva Moore, two sisters, Sarah “Doll” Hunt and Cleo M. Locklear; three brothers, Andrew Locklear, Earl Moore, and Harbert Moore, and special friend of 15 years Ira Lee Lowry.

Mr. Moore leaves behind two sons Jerry Moore, Freddy Moore (Marie) of Maxton, three daughters Jeannette Freeman of Pembroke, Stephanie Locklear (Lawrence) of Red Springs, and Brenda Locklear (Sherman) of Pembroke, his brothers Carl Thomas Moore, Clement Richard Moore and Claude Moore, his sisters Mary Frances Baker, Mabel Cummings, and Jane Sampson; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and host of nieces, nephews, family and friends who all loved him dearly.

Mr. Moore was a dedicated member of Prospect United Methodist Church; owner and operator of Prospect Motors, Prospect Wrecker and Prospect Garage, a retired member of Prospect Volunteer Fire Department and a retired school teacher of the Public Schools of Robeson County.

The visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Prospect United Methodist Church.
